Orgone's 'New You' on vinyl! 13 years in the making!!
I've been a fan of Orgone since I first heard The Killion Floor and was utterly befuddled as to how a record like this could be created in 2007. And when I started Colemine back in 2007, the idea that maybe someday I could work with a band like Orgone seemed like a pipe dream. Fast forward to 2013 and I found myself working with a bunch of wonderful and talented west coast bands like Monophonics, Jungle Fire, The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble, The Grease Traps, On The Spot Trio, The Ironsides, Rugged Nuggets, In Motion Collective, The Droptones, and eventually....Orgone. Sergio Rios' production & engineering was involved on way more than half of the bands I just listed and it felt like the natural progression of things.
At the time, I didn't quite have the funds to press up an LP (let alone a double LP), so the idea to release some 45s from their killer New You set (CD only at the time) seemed natural. Fast forward one more year to 2014 and a post-divorce Terry Cole was on the road hustling his wares across the country, which included a brand new 45 from Orgone (CLMN-126 - Don't Stop / Powerfeed). It was my first opportunity while in LA to hang and meet all the wonderful folks involved with this scene that up until that time, I had only been on phone calls or emails with.
The experience on the coast during 2014 was the most affirming experience I've ever had running this label. It humanized everything about what I was doing back home in Ohio. It was completely motivating and ultimately, that trip spurred my motivation to quite teaching the following year and to open up Plaid Room Records with my brother Bob and try to make a full go of this music thing.
Flash forward another 12 years and I have the supreme privilege and pleasure to properly roll out Orgone's now classic double long player 'New You'. Featuring contribution from so many members of the Colemine universe! Special shout to Mr. Sam Halterman for helping us get this bad boi across the finish line. Pre-order this heavy LP today!
Best,Terry Cole
